The Luton DART (Direct Air-Rail Transit) transfers passengers from Luton Airport Parkway station to the terminal of London Luton Airport in under four minutes.

The new shuttle facilitates faster, more convenient rail journeys from 60+ locations across the Thameslink and East Midlands Railway network, including Brighton right through to Corby. Meaning, passengers travelling from London St Pancras to the LLA terminal, can now do so in as little as 32 minutes.

Going Green

The electrically powered Luton DART supports the future sustainable growth of London Luton Airport, by reducing the environmental impact of journeys to and from the airport and congestion on surrounding roads. In so doing, it aims to increase the rail modal share for passengers accessing the airport and support the delivery of the Luton 2040 vision of a carbon-neutral town.

Social Impact

The Luton DART will improve London Luton Airport’s competitive position within the London aviation system, helping to safeguard 10,000 jobs at our airport and another 16,000 in the local and regional supply chains. During construction, it also supported around 500 jobs across a range of disciplines, created 80 full-time posts for local apprentices, graduates and other new entrants, and provided construction skills training hub for 720 people, of whom over 40% were drawn from traditionally under-represented groups.

Improved Accessibility

The Luton DART delivers a game-changing passenger experience at London Luton Airport, by offering a seamless, fully accessible rail journey to it from over 60 stations that come with direct services to London Luton Airport Parkway, including a new 32-minute journey from London St Pancras.
